ENGLAND...EXCEPT CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON MA HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG
WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FROM 11 AM TO 6 PM.

DESPITE TEMPERATURES ONLY WARMING INTO THE LOWER AND MID 60S THIS
AFTERNOON...GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH COMBINED
WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES BELOW 30 PERCENT AND THE ABSENCE OF ANY
RAINFALL THE PAST 3 DAYS...WILL YIELD CONDITIONS CONDUCIVE TO RAPID
FIRE GROWTH.

WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH AROUND 6 PM THURSDAY...THOUGH RELATIVE
HUMIDITY VALUES WILL REMAIN IN THE 20 TO 25 PERCENT RANGE...RISING
ABOVE 30 PERCENT BY MIDNIGHT. DRY CONDITIONS WILL RETURN FRIDAY...
BUT NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BE MUCH LIGHTER...GENERALLY 10 TO 15 MPH.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING TO 6 PM EDT
THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY ME HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG
WARNING...

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE OFFSHORE THIS MORNING AS HIGH PRESSURE BEGINS
TO BUILD ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH FRIDAY. NORTHWESTERLY WINDS
BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH WILL USHER IN A VERY DRY AIR MASS TODAY WITH
RH VALUES FALLING INTO THE 15 TO 25 PERCENT RANGE TODAY. FORESTRY
OFFICIALS HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERNS ABOUT THESE DRY WINDY
CONDITIONS...COUPLED WITH A DRY FUEL LOAD ESPECIALLY OVER INTERIOR
PORTIONS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE AS WELL AS SOUTHWESTERN MAINE. THIS HAS
PROMPTED THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TO ISSUE A RED FLAG WARNING
FOR TODAY. HUMIDITY SHOULD INCREASE TO THE 25 TO 30 PERCENT RANGE
FRIDAY AND WINDS SHOULD DROP TO 10 TO 20 MPH RANGE ON FRIDAY.

WARNING FOR THE CATSKILLS...THE ADIRONDACKS...AND THE TACONICS OF NEW
YORK...AS WELL AS FOR NORTHERN LITCHFIELD COUNTY CONNECTICUT...THE
BERKSHIRES...AND THE SOUTHERN GREEN MOUNTAINS.

A RED FLAG WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR STRONG NORTH WINDS AND LOW
RELATIVE HUMIDITY. THERE HAS BEEN LITTLE OR NO RAINFALL SINCE THE
BEGINNING OF THE MONTH. IN ADDITION...THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP
TO BETWEEN 20 AND 25 PERCENT THIS AFTERNOON WITH NORTHERLY WINDS
GUSTING TO 30 MPH AT TIMES.
