TODAY AND TONIGHT.

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL...AND A FEW
TORNADOES OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST US LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.

THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE

WESTERN CONNECTICUT
WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
NORTHERN NEW JERSEY
CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW YORK
CENTRAL AND EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA
WESTERN VERMONT

SURROUNDING THE MODERATE RISK AREA...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND
STATES INTO THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS.

A POTENT UPPER SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT EASTWARD FROM EASTERN
ONTARIO INTO WESTERN QUEBEC TODAY...WITH A TRAILING COLD FRONT
MOVING INTO THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF NEW YORK AND PENNSYLVANIA LATE
THIS AFTERNOON. A STRONG BELT OF WESTERLY FLOW IN THE MIDDLE AND
UPPER LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BE SUPPORTIVE OF WIDESPREAD
DAMAGING WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF THE NORTHEAST STATES INTO THIS
EVENING.

LARGE HAIL IS ALSO LIKELY ACROSS THE REGION. A THREAT FOR ISOLATED
TORNADOES WILL EXIST AS WELL...MOST LIKELY ACROSS THE HUDSON VALLEY
REGION OF EASTERN NEW YORK INTO NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA.
