NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
101 PM EDT WED JUL 6 2005

...URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING FROM BOSTON TO WORCESTER THROUGH
THE EARLY EVENING COMMUTE...

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AT 1 PM INDICATED AN AREA OF
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN FROM BOSTON TO WORCESTER. GENERAL RAINFALL
RATES WERE ONE QUARTER INCH TO ONE HALF INCH PER HOUR WITH RAINFALL
RATES AS HIGH AS ONE AND ONE QUARTER INCH PER HOUR NEAR THE ALEWIFE
PORTION OF CAMBRIDGE AND LOCALLY ELSEWHERE ALONG INTERSTATE 90 TO
WORCESTER. THIS AREA OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY
UNTIL 5 PM.

RAINFALL TOTALS AS HIGH AS TWO TO FOUR INCHES WILL BRING POOR
DRAINAGE FLOODING ESPECIALLY IN URBAN AREAS. IN ADDITION
HYDROPLANING AND POOR VISIBILITIES WILL BE ENCOUNTERED ON THE
HIGHWAYS. USE EXTRA TIME AND CAUTION ESPECIALLY IF TRAVELING IN
THE VICINITY OF THE GREATER BOSTON TO WORCESTER METRO AREAS THIS
AFTERNOON. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS ANY FLOODED ROADWAYS OR
UNDERPASSES AS WATER LEVELS ARE USUALLY HIGHER THAN THEY APPEAR.
