...HEAT INDICES MAY EXCEED 100 DEGREES FOR SEVERAL HOURS TODAY AWAY
FROM THE SOUTH COAST...

HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO CLIMB INTO THE LOWER 90S TODAY AWAY
FROM THE SOUTH COAST. THESE TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH OPPRESSIVE
HUMIDITY WILL RESULT IN HEAT INDICES AROUND 100 DEGREES BETWEEN NOON
AND 5 PM. IF YOU WILL BE OUTDOORS TODAY...DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
AND AVOID STRENUOUS ACTIVITY WHICH COULD LEAD TO HEAT EXHAUSTION.

A COLD FRONT WILL BRING SOME RELIEF FROM THE OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY ON
WEDNESDAY BUT IT WILL REMAIN HOT THROUGH FRIDAY. HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL
BE ON THE INCREASE AGAIN THURSDAY AND ESPECIALLY ON FRIDAY.

AN OFFICIAL HEAT WAVE WITH 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF 90 DEGREE HEAT IS
EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF THE REGION BEGINNING TODAY. SEA BREEZES WILL
PROBABLY PREVENT THIS ON THE IMMEDIATE COAST WEDNESDAY AND
THURSDAY...BUT THESE LOCAL EFFECTS SHOULD EXTEND NO MORE THAN 5 TO 10
MILES FROM THE COAST. THE HEAT WAVE MAY LAST INTO FRIDAY TO THE
SOUTH OF THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE.
